Hello…I’m Helen, a local resident for over forty years, a former teaching assistant in a special school & a grandparent to a pupil at Street Lane. For the last three years I’ve enjoyed volunteering in school by supporting the children’s reading & learning. Alongside this, I now hold the position of Community Governor. This is a new role for me but I’m committed to learning & supporting the leadership team & my fellow Governors, in working towards the continued success of Street Lane Primary.

Personal Statement:

After 22 years in my previous profession, I am now in the process of changing my career towards the education sector. I have been a service training instructor, and this involved mentoring, teaching and nurturing young adults into their chosen career. I was also appointed as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ambassador which took me into schools to promote STEM learning and careers. In 2018 I was awarded a Women In Defence (WID) medal for my contribution and promotion of STEM within schools and colleges.
I am delighted to be a Parent governor at Street lane Primary school and look forward to contributing anything that I can that will assist in its continued success.

My interests include Outdoor pursuit activities, animal welfare and gardening.

Personal statement:  

I am delighted to serve as a Governor and to play a small part in supporting the school community. I fully support the School’s values and visions and I am committed to helping the school provide an environment where all pupils can thrive both academically and personally.

In my professional life, I have worked within the construction and development sector for over 20 years and have been Chartered for over 10 years. I manage multiple projects and work closely with a wide range of people and organisations. This has helped me develop strong skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking, which I am pleased to bring to my role as a Governor.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family with my two children keeping me busy. In addition to this I enjoy running, watching football and walking my dogs.
